Al-Dautor: Tragedy in Lattakia

On March 7, armed groups raided the Al-Dautor neighbourhood of Lattakia city, killing 65 civilians and leaving 13 others missing. The violence forced mass displacement; families fled into the surrounding mountains. International bodies offered no immediate protection, and the humanitarian situation deteriorated quickly. A further massacre was documented at the Mufrak Al-Mazar junction in Al-Dautor. Eyewitnesses reported that the killings were carried out by Syrian members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in their official uniforms, targeting Alawite civilians. In the days that followed, desperate appeals went out to Druze, Kurdish, and Sunni communities to mobilize and stop the ongoing killings. Those who gave testimony were insistent on one point: these were not historical atrocities being recounted, but killings happening in real time.
