Salhab: Murdered During the March 7 Massacres

On March 7, 2025, armed factions entered Salhab in the western Hama countryside as part of the broader offensive targeting Alawite communities along the Syrian coast and its interior extensions. Civilians who had not managed to flee were killed. Salhab sits in a landscape of orchards and rolling hills on the edge of western Hama — a region whose population had lived largely removed from the front lines of the Syrian war for years before March 2025. The killings came quickly, leaving little time for warning or escape. The full casualty count in Salhab has not been independently verified. What is known comes from survivor testimonies and accounts from residents who fled before or during the attack. They describe the same pattern documented across dozens of communities in the region during the same days: armed men arriving, civilians targeted, homes abandoned, and silence settling over streets that had been inhabited for generations.
