Sonobar

During the wave of violence that swept through the Lattakia countryside in March 2025, the town of Sonobar was specifically targeted. At least 196 Alawite civilians were martyred as armed groups advanced through the forested areas. The town, known for its scenic beauty, became a site of mourning as families were forced to flee into the dense woods to escape the raids. Rights groups highlighted Sonobar as a clear instance of the sectarian targeting patterns that defined the March massacres.
